Getting started 5
What is Magic Lead Capture?
Magic Lead Capture (MLC) turns any WordPress page into a WhatsApp-first storefront. Your customer configures a product, the price updates live, and a complete order opens in their WhatsApp — ready for you to fulfil.
No WooCommerce, no Meta API account, and no per-message fees. The free plugin runs entirely on your own site.
Install the free plugin
- In WordPress admin go to Plugins → Add New.
- Search for YourMLC (Magic Lead Capture) and click Install, then Activate.
- A Store page is created automatically on activation, and the YourMLC menu appears in your sidebar.
You can also upload the ZIP via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
Run the Setup Wizard (type or talk)
Open YourMLC → Start MLC to launch the 12-step wizard. It walks you through brand identity, currency, fees, your first product, options, shipping and discounts.
You can type every answer, or grant microphone access and speak them — say “change that” to correct an answer. Voice works in Chrome, Edge and Safari and is always optional.
Put your store on a page
Add the shortcode [magic_lead_capture] to any page or post. The auto-created Store page already contains it.
- Edit a page → add a Shortcode block → paste
[magic_lead_capture]. - Publish and visit the page — your live storefront is there.
Go-live checklist
- Store name, logo and colours set (Style tab).
- Correct WhatsApp number with country code.
- At least one product with its options and prices.
- Shipping or pickup configured if you deliver.
- Placed a test order yourself to confirm WhatsApp opens correctly.
Store setup 4
Brand identity — name, logo, colours
Open YourMLC → Style. Set your store name, upload a logo, and pick your brand colours. Customers see this branding on the storefront and in confirmation emails, so it looks like your own shop — not a generic form.
Currency, taxes and fees
Set your currency and number format during the wizard or under settings. You can add a flat or percentage fee (for example a service or packaging fee) that is added to every order total automatically.
Your WhatsApp number
Enter your WhatsApp number with the country code and no spaces or symbols (for example +17135550192). This is the number that receives every order. It is your normal WhatsApp — no Business API or Meta account needed.
English + Spanish (bilingual fields)
MLC has a Spanish field next to every English field. Type your product names and options in both languages — your exact words, never machine-translated. Customers tap a toggle to switch. The setup wizard works in Spanish too.
Building products 4
Create your first product
- Go to YourMLC → Products and click Add product.
- Enter the name (English and Spanish), base price and a photo.
- Save. On the free plugin you have one product slot — Pro lifts this to unlimited.
Sections & option groups
In the product Options / Builder, add option groups so customers can choose. Supported types:
- Dropdown and radio buttons — pick one (size, flavour).
- Checkboxes — pick several (add-ons).
- Range slider — quantity or amount.
Group related options into sections to keep the form tidy.
Option pricing (“Large = +$5”)
Each option can add to the price. Set a per-option add-on (for example “Large = +$5” or “Extra cheese = +$1.50”). The customer total updates the instant they choose — no mental math, no typing prices into WhatsApp by hand.
Edit, reorder, duplicate or delete
From YourMLC → Products you can edit any product, drag to reorder options, duplicate a product as a starting point, or delete it. Changes are live as soon as you save.
Checkout & orders 3
How a customer orders on WhatsApp
The customer picks their options, sees the live total, then taps Order via WhatsApp. WhatsApp opens on their phone with the message already written — their name, every selection, delivery details and the exact total. They press send; you receive a complete order.
Where orders are saved
Every order and lead is saved in your own WordPress database under YourMLC → Capture. Search, filter and export them. Nothing is stored in a third-party cloud — if you ever cancel, the data stays with you.
Collect customer feedback
Turn on YourMLC → Feedback to ask for an optional rating and comment after an order. It is a simple way to build social proof and spot problems early.
Shipping & pickup 2
Delivery zones & rates
Open YourMLC → Shipping. Add a standard delivery rate and, if you want, target it by city, state or ZIP/postcode so customers in different areas see the right cost. The chosen delivery option is added to the order total and included in the WhatsApp message.
Local pickup with timing
Offer free or paid local pickup and set pickup timing/notes. The customer selects pickup instead of delivery and the order reflects it — no delivery fee added.
Discounts 1
Create promo codes
Go to YourMLC → Discounts. Create a code with a percentage or flat discount, an optional usage limit, and a start/end date window. Customers enter the code at checkout and the total updates before they order.
Emails & notifications 3
Transactional emails
Under YourMLC → Emails you can enable order and confirmation emails that send themselves, branded with your store name and colours.
SMTP setup for deliverability
For reliable delivery, connect your own SMTP (host, username, password) in the Emails settings. Your credentials are encrypted at rest. Without SMTP, mail uses the server default which some hosts rate-limit or block.
Milestone emails
MLC can send you a friendly note when you hit order milestones (25, 50, 100). A small motivation boost as your store grows.
Privacy, security & data 3
100% local by default
Out of the box the free plugin makes zero outbound network calls. No license key, no phone-home. Everything — products, orders, customers — lives on your own server.
Cloud Features (opt-in) — what gets sent
If you turn on Settings → Cloud to get pre-built templates and milestone messages, a clear consent screen lists exactly what is sent: site URL, install ID and admin email — never customer data. It is off until you enable it.
Captcha & audit log
A built-in captcha protects your form from spam, and an audit log records important admin actions. Both are part of the free plugin.
Troubleshooting 4
The page shows “[magic_lead_capture]” as text
The shortcode is in a plain-text block. Edit the page, delete it, add a proper Shortcode block, and paste [magic_lead_capture] there. Make sure the YourMLC plugin is active.
WhatsApp does not open or shows the wrong number
Check your WhatsApp number is entered with the country code and no spaces (for example +17135550192). On desktop, WhatsApp opens in WhatsApp Web or the desktop app; on mobile it opens the app directly.
The voice wizard is not listening
Voice needs microphone permission and a supported browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari). Allow the mic prompt, or just switch to manual mode — typing works everywhere and is always available.
Orders are not appearing
Orders are logged when the customer taps order and lands in WhatsApp. Check YourMLC → Capture. If you are debugging delivery or emails, the Diagnostic tab surfaces common configuration issues.
